Leaving aside commercial and farming vehicles, for which hard wearing rubber mats which can be washed off are best, we’ll focus on mats for carpeted areas of cars.

Manufacturer-supplied mats come in 2 broad categories – those you wish to preserve, and those you wish to replace and enhance. A sub-category is personalisation, making something bespoke in colour or design.

If you have a high end car then original mats are a plus point at sale, so replacing them with much lower cost yet bespoke premium mats when driving it won’t devalue the car visually or financially. If existing mats are classic, keeping them may be even more desirable.

Replacing tired, worn out, faded or poor quality mats is easy to do – we hold patterns for thousands of cars, and are continually adding not only new models but older cars too. And if you car is unique, supply us with a hand made paper template and we can still make it.

Aspects to consider are:

Colour – matching carpet, seats or trim, or contrasting ? if the car is black inside, a lighter colour can lift the dark footwell, or bright piping provides some relief. Really light colours will obviously get dirty quicker, but our mats can be rinsed down.

Trim – you can match the trim or choose a contrasting colour, maybe to pick up an interior accent. The Heel Pad can be trimmed the same or differently to the outer carpet edge.

Logo – we can embroider logos on mats, such as model numbers, style eg Cabriolet, Coupe, Turbo, 16v, model name (or yours!) but not copyrighted manufacturer brands unless you are an Authorised Dealer for that marque. It can be placed parallel to the sill, parallel to the seat or in the middle of the mat, and on all 4 mats too. Size is approx.10x6cm.

Optional extras – a drivers heel pad provides an extra layer of carpet for the wear area at no extra cost.

Boot mats to match – we do them too, again can be edged and embroidered.

Make sure your supplier uses the same fixings as the original manufacturer to ensure mats don’t move about. Ours do, and have a non-slip backing as well.

Cleaning mats – a simple car wash shampoo and light rub should get most marks and general dirt out after a good thrashing against a wall and hoovering. Light coloured trim can be cleaning down with a general degreaser or household cleaner without bleach.
